The Walker West Method addresses the needs and expectations of a 21st century American culture and learning style. American children are accustomed to a fast pace in everything they do. They are capable of multi-tasking and absorbing great quantities of information in a short period of time, and they want the immediate gratification of accomplishment, even if it is very small in scale.

The Walker West Method teaches to this mentality - immediate success, however small in scale. Immediate success brings immediate gratification. Immediate gratification brings the desire to continue and do more. The desire to do more leads to increased learning.

From the first lesson on, The Walker West Method creates MUSICIANS. All people are intrinsically musical creatures; music is inherent in them as humans in our culture. Our Method gives them a language with which to express their inborn musicality.

The Walker West Method takes musical concepts and makes them enjoyable, then directs these musical concepts to the student at their own individual and cultural level. The method directs learning to the eye AND the ear simultaneously, while also helping the student accomplish music physically (play).

The Walker West Method addresses the student's existing skill set and needs, builds pride, self-esteem, confidence and musicianship. It also strengthens the student's relationships to the teacher and him or her self, and creates the desire to learn and succeed.
